Mike HuckabyTastemaker, Educator, Sound Designer, and Motor City Proponet. Mike Huckaby has done much for Detroit electronic music. The man behind the once legendary Record Time store has gathered an encyclopedic knowledge of music.
He's one of those guys who knows all the roots and culture of electronic dance music. He's a person who can see beyond the hype and divisions within the scene. Mike knows exactly what the music is.
He has been an integral part of Detroit's rich musical output over the last 15 years, both as a producer and a DJ.
Huckaby's two imprints, S Y N T H and Deep Transportation, have gained a reputation for quality deep music existing somewhere between house and techno, while he has also become one of the busiest remixers from Detroit in recent years adding his distinctive feel to tracks from Juan Atkins, Rick Wilhite, Deepchord, Vladislav Delay, Pole, Loco Dice, LoSoul, and Pacou to name but a few.
Aside from his career as a touring DJ and producer, Mike also teaches electronic music production,
namely at Detroit's YouthVille center, where he has mentored young, enterprising Detroiters in the mysteries of the electronic musical arts. Kyle Hall got his start at YouthVille in Huckaby's class.
When he's not performing as a DJ, he's giving demos on behalf of German software companies Ableton Live and Native Instruments. Mike Huckaby is certainly a very busy man!
We've been keeping a close eye on Mike's movements for quite some time now and are extremely excited to have secured him for his first appearance in Manchester.
Bohemian Grove is all about hearing good electronic music in a friendly, comfortable atmosphere with like minded people.
As you will know by now, we like to keep our parties intimate to ensure that the vibe is never compromised. Unfortunately we have had to turn a lot of people away at the last two events but rest assured we have no plans to move to any of the city's bigger venues.
